- Mining
The firm has acquired extensive experience in negotiating mining concession agreements and obtaining licenses. In the past, we have negotiated a number of significant mining concessions with the Liberian Government on behalf of several major international mining companies. By working closely with tax, corporate, creditors’ rights, environmental and public lands lawyers, we are able to bring a breadth of experience to any project that allows for the completion of mining transactions most efficiently and creatively.
Additionally, we provide legal opinions on a regular basis in respect of mining legislation, related tax regimes and environmental standards.
- Agriculture Industry
We have developed a broad based agricultural and forest products industry practice. We have substantial experience in assisting clients in negotiating and acquiring agricultural and forest concessions from the Government of Liberia. We frequently advise clients regarding contracts and other legal matters relating to ownership and operation of agriculture lands, including agreement relating to rubber, oil palm and cash crops; sale and exportation of agricultural products; plantation management agreement; and hauling and transportation of agricultural products. We also advise clients concerning environmental issues related to land ownership and operation.
We assist client with the interpretation of current law and policies trend.
iii) Oil and Gas
The firm has advised and provided legal opinions on legislation and pronouncements relating to the oil and gas industry, covering areas such as legal requirements for participation, tax regime, environmental standards, interpretation of applicable laws and providing legal services to oil and gas concerns on an on-going basis. Providing interpretation of clauses related to the Exploration and Production Sharing Agreements along with advice on the financing of oil rigs and dealings with the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) as well as assistance with joint venture agreements in this field. One of our senior associates is a former member of NOCAL’s Board of Directors and another of our senior associates is the former head of the Legal Department of NOCAL.
